Over 900 Clients. 33,000+ Sessions. Two Decades of Transformational Therapy.

For more than 20 years, Michael Uram has been helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most complex emotional challenges. As the founder and CEO of Uram Family Therapy in Newport Beach and Irvine, California, Michael has provided more than 33,000 individual therapy sessions to over 900 unique clients—a level of experience rarely matched in the field of psychotherapy.

With a clinical approach rooted in Compassion, Understanding, Creativity and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Michael blends structure and empathy to guide clients with Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), parenting and relationship stress, and more.

A Trusted Therapist for Children, Teens, Adults, and Families

Michael’s practice is built on the understanding that no two people are alike—and therapy should reflect that. Whether working with a child on the autism spectrum, a teen struggling with identity and emotions, or a couple facing disconnection, he creates customized strategies that support healing and growth.

He is especially known for helping:

  • Neurodivergent youth and their families (Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s)
  • Children and teens affected by divorce or blended families
  • Adults coping with anxiety, trauma, depression, and anger
  • Couples in conflict or navigating life transitions

Through thousands of sessions, Michael has seen firsthand that change is possible—and often begins with one honest conversation.

Author, Speaker, and Media Contributor

In addition to his clinical work, Michael is a published author, speaker, and media expert.

He has written two accessible mental health books:

  • Emotion Journal for Gamers – A creative tool to help kids and teens build emotional literacy using video game concepts.
  • Parenting & Asperger’s – A practical, compassionate guide for families raising neurodivergent children.

Michael has been featured in Parenting OC, The Therapist (CAMFT), and on CBS/KCAL9, The LD Expert Podcast, and The Father Show. His public talks and articles address parenting, mental health in media, managing trauma, ADHD and neurodiversity with clarity and heart.

Experience That Matters

Michael holds a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and is both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). He has worked in private practice since 2008 and founded Uram Family Therapy in 2018.

Michael’s strength lies in his deep empathy, structured support, and unwavering belief in each client’s capacity to grow—even when life feels overwhelming.
